Hamburg, 3 May 2016. Stibo Systems, a market-leading provider of Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, will install its STEP MDM solution in Globus hypermarkets across Germany. Founded around 190 years ago, Saarland-based Globus currently operates 46 hypermarkets in Germany, plus a further 26 in Russia and the Czech Republic. The installation is a joint effort between Stibo Systems and its partner, foryouandyourcustomers.Globus has chosen the platform to provide its customers with the most relevant possible information. The aim is to create a more positive shopping experience in-store, online and through printed sales literature. One of the first stages involves making it easier to realise the desired additional benefits for the customer. This means leveraging new and existing communications channels such as mobile apps and brochures more quickly, and also providing more personalised, regularly updated content.
- Higher quality of product and customer data
- Provision of high-quality, broad-ranging information relevant to customers
- STEP offers a high level of flexibility and a simple configuration, so no programming is necessary
- STEP works alongside and supports an ERP solution such as SAP
Dr Ralf Jung, Head of Multichannel Innovation, Globus Hypermarket Holding
“Innovation is embedded in the company culture at Globus. As the retail business enters a new digital era, an integrated and sustainable multichannel strategy is needed to create an up-to-date working environment. The challenge here is to ensure that the systems and processes associated with this strategy are adopted smoothly in our stores and that they work effectively to meet the needs and expectations of our customers. In Stibo Systems and foryouandyourcustomers, we’ve found two partners who are up to the task.”
Stephan Müller, Managing Director, foryouandyourcustomers
“As part of the jointly developed multichannel strategy, we’re working with and for Globus to implement an MDM solution that will enable the efficient management of customer and product data in the future. It’s the foundation of a multichannel architecture that will provide various new ways for the company to better serve its customers. We’re delighted that Globus has chosen STEP.”
Manfred Heckt, Managing Director, Stibo Systems GmbH (Germany)
“First-rate qualitative product and customer master data is a prerequisite for any multichannel or omnichannel strategy. STEP is a versatile multidomain platform from Stibo Systems that brings together the best of both approaches. With our partner foryouandyourcustomers, we’ve provided Globus with a solid foundation for their multichannel activities.”
Founded in 1828 in the Saarland town of St. Wendel, Globus is an independent, family-owned company that’s one of the leading retailers in Germany. Today, the Globus group consists of 46 hypermarkets, 88 home improvement stores, seven ALPHATECC. consumer electronics stores, Globus Drive, fridel markt & restaurant, two home improvement stores in Luxembourg and 26 hypermarkets across Russia and the Czech Republic. The group’s combined turnover is approximately €7 billion. It owes its success in large part to approximately 43,700 employees on its payroll: around 18,800 work in hypermarkets across Germany and more than 8,400 in Globus home improvement stores. Entrepreneurial spirit is at the heart of the company and with this in mind, Globus gives its staff the freedom to work autonomously and take responsibility on the shop floor. This way, they feel less like employees and more like business partners – a status reinforced by the option to buy shares in the company.
Globus hypermarkets in Germany stock between 50,000 and 10,000 food and non-food products across a total of 10,000 square metres of floor space. As a grocer, Globus believes in working directly with its regional network of suppliers to provide fresh, home-grown produce. In addition to the expertise of its staff, the group’s close ties are valued highly by its customers. For years, Globus has received top marks in annual customer surveys run by Service Barometer AG, while in 2015, it was nominated as the best provider in the categories ‘Range and variety of products’, ‘Quality of cold meats’ and ‘Customer service compared to competitors’. In terms of overall customer satisfaction, Globus home improvement stores achieved first place. In 2005, shareholder Thomas Bruch set up the Globus Foundation (Globus-Stiftung), a not-for-profit organisation with a 20 percent stake in Globus Holding. The foundation supports projects aimed at helping young people realise their potential and shape their own future. It also provides aid in the fields of education and medicine in countries where it is needed most. www.globus.de
