About the Role:

The UAT Analyst / Technical Writer will be responsible for quality assurance and documentation for the core STEP platform and product line offerings. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  •  Review software analysis and design documents
  •  Participate in planning sessions and software demos; provide feedback from these sessions
  •  Evaluate the software for usability, efficiency, and consistency from the end-user perspective
  •  Validate that the software design & delivered functionality meet the business requirements
  •  Develop best practice recommendations for new features • Document the STEP platform and various products, including writing release notes, user guides & online documentation, implementation guides & standards, and Stibo specification templates
  •  Evaluate internal and external customer tickets and research or implement changes
  •  Demonstrate new functionality to the team and partner teams
  •  Other duties, as assigned

The UAT Analyst / Technical Writer will work in a dynamic environment to deliver product releases, interacting heavily with project-specific teams that consist of, but is not limited to, product line directors, technical product managers, stakeholders, and R&D resources including developers, architects, section managers, and the core QA team.

  • Must be well organized, able to maintain deadlines, remain flexible, and manage competing priorities

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze potential software solutions and/or to learn new software applications in a self-directed manner, with little or no supporting documentation
  • Ability to work with product owners and developers to clarify software intent, and voice concerns when appropriate to ensure that quality standards are met
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and take direction from multiple sources
  • Experience with software development life cycle required, with a preference for experience in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Scaled Agile
  • Ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to non-technical people, including the ability to tailor content for varying audiences or forms of communication

❖ Preferred

  • Editorial and/or proofreading experience
  • Previous experience in roles that included quality assurance, software development, or technical writing tasks
  • Expertise in supporting and/or implementing software, including the ability to contribute to recommendations for use-of-standard applications
  • Experience working with a pre-release software product, including the ability to recognize, report, and work around defects
  • Knowledge of documentation tools and processes: Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required, MadCap Flare, SnagIt, and/or other tools is a plus
  • Experience with video creation and editing using software such as Camtasia is also a plus

Detailed Position Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the other members of the Product Documentation, even while working separate projects
  • Collaborate with technical product managers, software engineers / developers, and the core QA team in various avenues, including daily scrum team calls
  • Provide timely & accurate updates to the department head and project team
  • Manage QA / UAT and documentation for multiple development projects at the same time
  • Participate in the core product and product line development cycles with a focus on business-level end-to-end quality assurance and documentation, including usability, efficiency, and consistency
  • Actively participate in review of analysis and design documents and software demos for new and changed features along with product managers, usability experts, and developers
  • Analyze and decompose a complicated software system and design a strategy to test and document a set of functionalities in a business-centric way (end-to-end vs unit or functional tests)
  • Work with in-progress and beta code releases to understand, test, and document new features accurately and in a timely manner
  • Validate that the software design and delivered functionality meet the business requirements, as originally proposed or as modified throughout the development / release cycle
  • Track project progress and assigned tasks using JIRA and subtask tickets
  • Create and monitor tickets for bugfixes and project-related review tasks
  • Suggest system and process improvements
  • Analyze new functionality to determine need for revisions in previously published documentation and development of new materials
  • Create net new and maintain existing documentation, including writing release notes, user guides & online documentation, implementation guides & standards, and Stibo Systems specification templates
  • Review, edit, update, and standardize existing materials according to set standards regarding quality, completeness, clarity, style, and terminology
  • Less than 10% travel; International travel required
