LDAP
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is a protocol for accessing information directories (information about network users, computers, printers, etc) through a hierarchical tree structure. This lightweight (can run on the internet, intranet, PCs, etc) protocol is a subset of the X.500 standard.
The
STEP LDAPaccess component makes it possible to configure STEP to validate passwords in an LDAP repository like for instance Microsoft Active Directory. This means that users can use the same password for STEP as they use for logging on to their computer and to other applications.
